UA Contemporary Dance Platform \ PAM`YATATY
the project creation is supported by Trust for Mutual Understanding
The project PAM`YATATY aims to draw attention, through dance, choreography, and performative art, to women who endure the trials of war but do not participate in armed confrontation with the enemy.
These are the women who "haven't done anything extraordinary" for victory but, nonetheless, through loss, emotional exhaustion, forced migration, and the inability to live a "normal" life, are direct participants in the war.
The project will culminate in the live presentation of four solo site-specific performances, created either in Ukraine or abroad.
The authors of the project are Ukrainian choreographers selected by the PAM`YATATY team.
All performances will be filmed and also presented in the form of a video for a wide audience.

Dancer, performer, choreographer, teacher and director of Holy dance school (Kharkiv).
Since the beginning of the russian invasion to Ukraine in 2022, he continues to live and work in Kharkiv.
WHY:
I decided to participate in the project because, as a choreographer, I am deeply interested in exploring the site-specific format, especially in the context of this theme.
I am also very eager to work with a dramaturg. I’ve had a small attempt at such collaboration before, but this will be my first full-fledged experience working together on a creative project.

WHY:
The theme of the project PAM`YATATY is relevant and deeply painful for me...My daughter decided to stay in Kharkiv, while I am currently living in Finland. A severed connection... calls, calls... messages... 'How are you?'I will try to 'live through' all of this through movement…
WHO:
A dancer, performer, choreographer and teacher originally from Kyiv, Ukraine.
During university studies she started to work as a teacher and choreographer with children, teenagers and amateurs. At the same time Olena participated in various workshops and projects on contemporary dance, performance and related disciplines.
Her professional experience as a dancer and choreographer includes participating in the projects with Peter Kyle Dance Company (USA), Da Soul Chung (South Korea) and others
Since the beginning of russian invasion to Ukraine, Olena has been living and working in Savona, Italy.
WHY:
The phrases 'trial by war,' 'forced migration,' 'the impossibility of living a normal life' strike something very raw and painful within me. They provoke complex questions: Is my life truly a trial of war? Is it even a trial at all right now? Where am I in this war? What does 'normal life' mean? And many others.
I see the project PAM`YATATY as a space and time to try to make sense of what needs to be named and addressed right now so that this experience doesn’t remain a silent trauma but instead becomes a meaningful lesson for the future.
WHO:
Choreographer, dancer, performer, a graduate of Taras Shevchenko National University of Luhansk (2015).
From 2016 to 2022, she worked at the Kyiv Modern Ballet.
In 2022, together with her husband Ilya Miroshnychenko, they founded their own INSHA Dance Company.
Because of the russian invasion to Ukraine in 2022, she temporarily moved to the EU, where she studied at the NDT Summer Intensive (Netherlands) and worked at the Holstebro Dance Company (Denmark), and the Hanover State Opera (Germany).
In 2023, Kateryna returned to Ukraine, where she continued to develop the activities of INSHA Dance Company.
WHY:
I have a need to speak. And this need is more than just talking to a friend or a therapist. I need to tell. As a child, I kept diaries. Now I dance.
I believe that someday I will be able to create an artistic act from a state of grace, not from the need to talk about trauma. But it seems that to do so, I need a slightly different life..
