DESCRIPTION:
The mystical performance Reconstruction explores archetypes that dwell in the subconscious of every individual.
The production is based on the life experiences of its author and director, Kristina Shyshkaryova, who drew upon Carl Jung's concepts to develop her own system of archetypes. These archetypes are conveyed through the language of dance, offering a unique interpretation.
An intriguing detail: all the masks have feminine faces. Even the Animus, traditionally representing the masculine aspect, becomes a mirror of the woman here.
Through the performers Yelyzaveta Kleymenova and Anastasiia Ryazantseva, the director reflects on the essence of feminine power, the search for harmony, and the ability to heal after traumatic experiences.
Throughout the performance, various archetypes are “born” from its core: the Mother, the Priestess, the Lover, the Warrior, the Elder, the Girl, the Reformer, and the Beast.
These figures reflect different facets of the feminine essence, and their journeys illustrate transformation—from disintegration to renewal, from pain to strength.
The archetypes interact, sometimes clashing, but are united by their unconditional love for the Child.
The symbolism is amplified by unique masks, handcrafted by the director herself.
For instance, the Child’s mask underwent significant evolution: from a concept involving fragments of an old, torn doll to a bright, kind image adorned with flowers and teddy bears. It symbolizes the childhood that should be—pure and joyful.
The performance’s scenography was designed by engineer Serhii Minakov, who constructed a massive welded metal structure.
This was then covered with semi-transparent flesh-toned fabrics, enhancing its symbolism.
Originally conceived as a she-wolf, the sculpture evolved into the image of a dragon with enormous wings over time.
This dragon-wolf embodies the primal, instinctive nature of women.
The musical accompaniment was composed by Daria Veshtak, renowned for her experiments with genres and instruments.
Her music in Reconstruction acts as audio portraits of women, where the sounds intertwine like magical ingredients.
The visual backdrop, created by Maksym Panchenko, serves as the perfect setting for the stage action. His video projections, developed using artificial intelligence, seamlessly complement the performers’ portrayal of the archetypes without overshadowing them.
In the end, Reconstruction is a story about feminine power—capable of overcoming obstacles, finding new meaning, and restoring wholeness.
This performance serves as a reminder of the boundless energy within every woman that can create new life and transform reality.
